Unconditional Love

Pastor Walt Everett won't ever forget the pain he suffered when his son was murdered. While waiting for the trial, he struggled to overcome the anger and desire for revenge. At the trial, the murderer, Mike, expressed remorse for the pain he'd caused. The pastor wrote him the hardest words he'd ever written: "I forgive you." It was only then that he felt the anger lift.

When Mike asked for a visit in prison, Pastor Everett went. He found a repentant man who'd experienced God's forgiveness through Christ. These visits continued and eventually the pastor spoke on Mike's behalf for an early release.

When asked what he saw when he looked at Pastor Everett, Mike replied, "Unconditional love." Unconditional love shows mercy and it forgives.

Now you go and show mercy today.

This is Don Stephens of Mercy Ships reminding you, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."
